Fantastic Progressions

Greetings chumpensteins, chumpenstiens and chumpettes! It's been a little less regular on this blog, but with good raisin, I mean reason - no wait I do mean raisin!

Oatmeal raisin to be more precise. An old ~~war~~ intern buddy from Nickelodeon, Alex, and myself have joined forces to bring you the most fantastic ballads never heard, but later to be heard, but first written and illustrated! We'll be going live in January of 2011. Check out Alex's writing, fighting and life lessons on his website right here.

Until the new year arrives you can check out some final character sheets I created after boarding the first pass of the first ballad: The Untimely Fall of the Gingerbread Man. Keep in mind the styles change from ballad to ballad. Was going for a Golden Book/construction paper kind of feel. Hope it gets you folks PUMPED.

In more drawing related draw news I am taking the course "Drawing the Fantastic" again at my school. If you scroll down far enough you can see a crow that came out of the first round.

Some things never change and some things change slightly. This is a case of slightly changing - we're still doing Aesop's fables meaning I'm drawing foxes for the 2nd year - yeah they should be amazing then, ahem, but I've also got a new teacher who incorporates life drawing into the class - SCORE!

What could be better than that you ask? Well if I could also get paid to be the TA in the class...AND I DO AND AM! Here's some work dinkles. Hey folks - it's been a while!

Almost half a year actually. No wait, more than half a year? Too much writing already?

Because I'm completely insane and also hope to inspire people along with showing my work, I have created a step by step of my process with this latest piece created for absolutely no reason.

Nothing new or ground breaking here and all this info can be found in many basic Photoshop tutorials, but if you're personally curious as to how I work, well, you're a creep, but I love you anyway.

The everybody's irregular gang has gone through some serious upgrades, getting a few new recruits this Summer. A fan favorite among fans has been Mr. Mosskawitz, commonly referred to by human earthlings as Cole.

This here is a photograph of him working diligently on a collab drawing, which has become quite the popular event with this here gang.

Here's a detail of this drawstrosity. I threw down the colors at the get-go, followed by Cole's lovely lines and a massive high-five to Mr. John Sweeney for bringing us home with the dirty, diggit background.

Before such events transpired, what got this evening rolling was an invitation to Panera. Now I had already eaten, but that didn't mean I couldn't hold a conversation...that was until I found this wonderful bag to draw on. Thank the good folks at Panera for already drawing all the noses for me. You guys are swell.

The meditator to the left is working on layouts for his comic book. Lots of space, space monsters and a giant bat! I may have said too much, ho ho.

The ascending gentlemen to right is catching some air before the long trek to a karaoke bar...that actually wasn't doing karaoke that night. Bummer. We rose above however, another night reining in the sin.

These photos chronicle the final moments of a good meal. Unfortunately my half of the group arrived very late for the dinner, however, we were lucky enough to have friends with the patience (and stomachs) of mountain men. I salute you sirs!

Another evening ending with similar shenanigans as the night prior. I think we got it right the first time, but you can't be too careful.

God help me if this is the same night...I would assume it has to be. Not only did the 6 dinner mates trek back to the pad for some hang out time, but a few famous faces made their way over as well.

At peak hours of the night every guest had a sketchbook and was drawing. No one was talking and I didn't want to disturb the chi-flow.

Some interesting pieces were born that evening, hopefully they will make their way around the web.

FISHTRON! A new 3-page comic I made at work the other week has now been inked and sent off to an old friend who's starting an art'zine. She wanted new art, comics, poems, anything really and I accepted the kind offer. Not sure when it's going to be printed, but it's a pretty cool notion. Can't wait to see the end product.

Shortly I will edit this post to have some art. I probably shouldn't be monkeying with sketches and uploading things on here to be honest...I have been having a difficult time finding a Summer job, what with this excuse they call the economy these days.

Anyway, I have a couple of projects I am trying to work on, I feel guilty working on them while I don't have a job to slave away at during the day though, perhaps there's no better time than now to crank through them and see what happens.

I hope the four people that glance at this are having a good Summer and hopefully by the next time I post I'll be a working man again.

Hey there, folks - I'm keeping up with this, give me a dollar.

Probably should be using this time to actually work on my website, but uh, yeah. There's just so much bologna bogging me down. Okay that's a lame excuse, but we're coming down to the wire here folks. Spring Break is at an end and while I more than appreciated my week off, I can't lie I still feel the heat from everything. It's like taking a week off in the middle of a war...when you still have to fight..you just don't have to show up...to the front line?

Okay poor analogy, but you 3 great people that actually look at this thing don't read it. You look at the pictures! So without further rambling. Cranked this out yesterday. I think I'm getting faster/more comfortable...or this one was easier. I have a major feeling I need to add a lot more line weight, but I'm digging how it came out. Anyway, sorry --

Went to a friend's birthday last night and found a pen, a piece of paper and a prisma marker on a table.

In case it can't be understood; it's Captain America fighting a mexican wrestler. Remember when that happened? I do.

Getting through the first entry is always hard, but I'll try and get as far as I can without wiggin out.

I have been in NY for the Winter Holidays, kinda dreading heading back, but that's only because things are going to get really intense once I get back out there.

Anyway, been working on some side projects. Here's a really awful quality version of the "Pajaminals" teaser trailer. If anyone knows of any websites where I can upload bigger videos please let me know.

More side projects are in the works, although I'm sure it'd be much smarter to work on one thing at a time, but where's the fun in that?
